Trainer of Shady Creek Stable, Katherine Hampton:
I have been involved in the horse world for over 20 years. It all started with a few western lessons on some temperamental Arabians, when I was 8 years old. Through the years I have ridden Western, Hunters, Jumpers, Dressage, Combined Training, Driving, and even racehorses - galloping, working and even breaking them. I am experienced in rehabbing horses from injuries, and love to work with "problem" horses and ponies. I have worked at the prestigious Keeneland September Yearling Sales, Shown A Circuit Hunters, and ridden and trained with some pretty amazing "Big Name" trainers. However my greatest teachers over the years have always been the horses.
Although I may never win another award in Equitation, I'd like to think that my varied riding career has given me quite a big bag of tricks. Instead of being a follower of one big name trainer, or horse whisperer, or whoever, I just ride and train them according to each individual horse - and situation. While I still enjoy riding hunters, jumping, and trail riding, my biggest passion is still with starting youngsters, and retraining Off The Track TB's and "problem" horses…….which I would much rather be doing then writing some silly paragraph about myself, so if you'd like to know more, please ask!
